INDEPENDENCE DAY

{ My husband leaving, a cloudy house, a starry tree, and mulled wine. }

Today my husband went to Barcelona for a work thingie. At first I felt alone and a little sorry for myself, still huddled in bed contemplating Angeliska's thoughts on death, witches and the magic of words. Then I spontaneously began celebrating Finland's independence day with potato piirakka at Hötorgshallen. It was possibly the best piirakka I've ever had, Finnish homemade ones included. Stumpy greasy balls of rye, potato, butter and the legendary "egg butter". Eating them I sounded like a munching pig (seriously). It was well worth it.
  Next I went to Kreatima and touched all their different qualitys of paper, one by one. Paper, you is best. I looked at calligraphy pens and ink cartridges and sighed, and fell for a pink gold dotted sheet of washi paper. It's gorgeous. I don't dare remove it from its plastic wrap.
  Walking home through darkness and lights, black silhouettes and tiny aunties trying to push their walkers on wheels through snow drifts, I decided on glögg, mulled wine with ginger and yuzu.
  Now I sit in my homemade mess with a spinning head and blushing cheeks and think of my husband and last night's crêpes at Crêperie Fyra knop. #Myfriendsaremarried would hate me.

Allvarligt, Finska Butiken i Hötorgshallarna i Stockholm.
