ELLA PRESENTS THE INTERNET

.
Lately I've assembled info on fashion shops all over the world... Not as a hobby assignment mind you, but on request for someone else ("a third party"). It's been interesting, and I feel I've learnt a lot about the world, and how shop owners, trendy finger in the air kinda people I imagine, relate to the internet in different countries.
  For example, in Australia many shops only have a facebook page or a blogspot page. They don't try to conceal the blogspottiness, they don't buy a domain name or change favicon, it's all there down to which theme they've used and "powered by blogger". Many have hotmail addresses.
  In Italy boutiques quite often don't have a web page, facebook or even email. It's marvelous trying to find them. In trendy NY shops, I get a feeling that it's kinda cool not being able to be found online, it's like a hipster thing, it's oh so obscure and local. Fine, whatevs.

It's also interesting to see who wants to be contacted and who don't. Some shops will say contact Gary (made up name), or this is the buyer for that, whereas others will only show a customer address, if any. It makes me wonder, is all news bad news? Why is it so important to find rather than to be found? Or is it only a super efficient way to weed out the junk mail?
  Anyway, today I spontaneously and undiscriminatingly screenshot those shops that somehow struck me. Not necessarily the beautifullest or bestest, just... you know, I got a feeling. Let's have a look.

{ Welcome to the world of internet. }

Mountains! Nice. They change colour, too.

{ Obscure signs. I like. A touch of mysterious dark worship looks good. }

{ Not so much the site as the Star Wars/Comme des Garcons combo. And how do you make "the C tail"? }

{ I didn't especially like this site, I'm oh so tired of the ever present girls, girls, girls, weary looking girls. What I liked was the name Fina du because it must sound great pronounced in American. }

{ In hindsight this doesn't look good at all. I don't know, I had a feeling and feelings are fickle. }

{ Cacti! Grainy black and white! Desert! Again with the dark mysterious worship. This site makes me want to bury bodies and take peyote and climb a red mountain and meet the eagle. }

{ A 60's looking, detailed drawing with an animated zeppelin. I don't care if it looks good or not, I'm already happy. }

{ This Estonian shop called themselves a badminton club, and had a mysterious owl and TV noise grain and a serpenty yellow ribbon as symbols. It doesn't come together at all, and that made me happy because I like when people make their own sense, if you know what I mean. }

{ A double exposure hippie take! And colours! I like. }

{ Superspace! This site was ugly and bold and things moved. I liked it. }

{ A sheer water colour painting. Not so good looking but suiting a "my heart is full" address. }

{ Classic, classy, and suiting the name. }

{ Last! }

{ The site did nothing for me, but look, a shop made of paper bags! }

I'm sorry for this much too long post! To many pics, I know.
  As a last note, I haven't linked the shots to the sites because I'm lazy and have got things to do and you can read the addresses on the timeline.
  Now I'll go out and pretend that it's summer, because this is July, and that's what we do.
