(I can hear the Glenn sigh: "Don't write about movies, it's boring, write about your life", but:) Some movies are like old friends, and sometimes you need to dive back into their worlds. It's like spiritual comfort food, when the world is grey - hello January! - and your man is at work and can't hug you.

So, I'm currently having a Studio Ghibli race, when I can't sleep, at lunches and breakfasts, revisiting old friends like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984), My Neighbour Totoro (1988), Princess Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001), Howl's Moving Castle (2004), Tales from Earthsea (2006), The Secret World of Arrietty (2010)...

I had a sudden craving to say hi to the soot - I love the word soot, so cute! - in Spirited Away. Half through they are replaced by the hamster - or is it a guinea pig? - and bird:

Hamster and bird!

This is probably as cute as it gets.

When Jessica and I were in Japan, we didn't realize you had to book in advance to visit the Ghibli Museum. Next time!

And next post will have regulated levels of cuteness.

L8R Skater!

And I like your blogposts about film. I think that says more about you than a "todays outfit" would do! And you do it oh so good to!

Thank you dear!

I should probably start doing "today's outfit" because it would be so tragic: "So, this is the sweater I slept in, and I'm wearing the same tights as I've had since September..."

Meep. Love, love soot balls. And nearly everything that comes out of Studio Ghibli.

I had forgotten there is soot also in My Neighbour Totoro!
