These buildings and streets are long gone, and I wonder, is it sentimental to grieve the demolition of Klara? It happened before I was born. Is it the demolition that gives Klara its magic? What would it be without it, is impossible to say.
I prefer these winding streets to today's Sthlm city center.
And Klara is far more beautiful a name than City.
History in short (very short):
1933 Sthlm arranged for an international city planning competition. Legends like Alvar Aalto and Le Corbusiers competed. (Studying contemporary aesthetics I was told Le Corbusiers upon visiting Stockholm said that everything should be torn down except for the castle - that is a square box.) 1952 the demolition began, in the 70's the new city center was finished.
